I'm Henrietta and like so many others I don't like change, but in 2020 after a year long sabbatical I decided to take control and make a huge change. I'd been teaching at my last college for 16 years which shows how much I really loved the staff and students.
I didn't know what I was going to do; I knew I had energy and desire. I was really worried about leaving my good job that was well paid and comfortable but in the end after much deliberation and discussion, it just felt like the right thing to do.
2020 has been a sad and very difficult year and so I want to be more positive and see it as a time for renewal, positivity and growth; a time to be thankful; to experiment and review.
Due to lockdown and Covid, I am unable to trade sustainably at the markets so I have decided to coach. Now I was nervous because I thought coaching students and staff must be way different to coaching people outside education; plus I don't have niche.I told a few business colleagues and friends and two signed up. Their feedback has been incredible.
Susanne Nicholas said that my feedback and conversation was "non-judgemental and filled her with confidence". Vanessa Bell felt that my "holistic approach helped her as a business and a person". One of my senior managers and a close friend both felt that I had a gift but I never believed them.
After Boris' Christmas news, I might even get a chance to be at Old Spitalfields Market on Sat 7 December 2020. Well, for now it's one step at a time and I will continue to enjoy the journey and what it has to offer.
